Aleksanterinkatu 13, Helsinki

The slate roof of the Lundqvist commercial building at Aleksanterinkatu 13 had suffered significant damage. Parts of the roof had been repaired between the 1940s and 1960s using lower-quality slate, which had deteriorated over time. Although much of the original slate remained, it had become brittle after 100 years and could not be removed intact.

The roof renovation began in autumn 2015 and was completed in early 2016. Liuskemestarit Oy supplied the stone, acted as the technical expert and carried out the installation. The new slate roof is built to last for the next 100 years. One of the most demanding roof renovation projects in Finland was completed on schedule.
